A circular VTOL pad grounds the aircraft, with a gloss floor below to reflect the aircraft an lighting. The circularity then flows around the aircraft creating a clean backdrop to read the aircraft’s lines. To highlight the electrification of the aircraft, the charger was in situ. Colour changing lights were arrayed around to highlight the detailed design.

The VX4 aircraft is a new mode of urban transport. One that’s fully electric, sustainable, and convenient. The aircraft captures the essence of electric flight; combining innovative materiality and considered design.

We played up the materiality of the stand to separate Vertical Aerospace as the sustainable leader, using raw materials such as plywood, OSB and recycled foam, exposed lighting and foliage. Using Vertical’s brand DNA we used brand messaging to highlight Vertical’s partners and mission.

Our co-founders, Dan and Izzy, won a Design Concept Red Dot Award in Mobility and Transportation as the design leads of the VX4 while working at Priestman Goode in 2021: https://www.red-dot.org/project/va-x4-54115
